Andy Gore Named Referee of the tournament after officiating U18 Gold Medal Match at Australian Youth Volleyball Championships In Bendigo

South Brisbane Wolves Vice President Andy Gore has showcased his excellence in officiating on the national stage, representing Queensland as a referee at the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships 2024. His dedication, professionalism, and ability to perform under pressure saw him not only referee across the tournament at various ages and skill abilities but also continuously apply feedback and impress the referee mentors.

Andy’s journey to this achievement has been years in the making. With volleyball in Queensland facing an ongoing refereeing shortage, Andy has been committed to being part of the solution—working tirelessly to develop his skills, take on leadership roles, and encourage more officials to step up. His passion for the game extends far beyond the Wolves, as he continues to contribute to the sport’s growth and integrity through high-quality officiating and official development.

As the tournament progressed, Andy’s skill and composure were recognised, earning him the prestigious appointment as R1 for the U18 Gold Medal Match valiantly fought between Queensland and New South Wales. In a thrilling contest that went down to the wire, Queensland emerged victorious, securing gold in a match that kept players and spectators on the edge of their seats.

Following his outstanding performance throughout the tournament, Andy’s contributions were formally acknowledged as he was awarded the Referee of the Tournament, an award presented by Referee Delegate Renae Harvey. This honour reflects his commitment to excellence in officiating and highlights the high calibre of referees within the Wolves community and their commitment to developing referees at the grassroots level so more people can play in more places.

Andy’s achievement is a testament to his dedication, not just to the Wolves but to the broader volleyball community. His ability to perform at an elite level on the national stage is an inspiration for aspiring referees and a proud moment for himself and the club.

The Wolves community congratulates Andy on this incredible accomplishment and looks forward to seeing him continue pursuing his referee career and passion for development.
